As a Project Manager in a medical device industry I would learn to identify what are the different ways to that motivates an individual. Try to reward and provide recognition to motivate the team members on tasks that are tough to achieve but not too tough as well and would make sure that it is done consistently. Often the things that motivate the employees are relatively easy and cost the least, this can be taking the employee out for a lunch. Have the employee develop marketable skills by allowing them to attend seminars which will have them to most likely stay at the organization. Be polite and kind and appreciate the good work they do by thanking them, which will be a good motivator. The project manager’s level of motivation affect the team’s productivity and motivation level because depending on how motivated the PM is to do the above mentioned things the team will be motivated at most of the phases of the project.
