The Project Planning Phase is the second phase in the project life cycle. It involves creating of a set of plans to help guide team members through the execution and closure phases of the project. The plans created during this phase will help the team to manage time, cost, quality, change, risk and issues. They will also help in managing staff and external suppliers, to ensure that the project is delivered on time and within budget. Planning may not be the most enjoyable component of managing projects, but it is the most vital part for reducing risk and failure rates. Time spent on planning will reduce risk and increase project success. On the other hand, inadequate analysis and planning will lead to a failed project. One important aspect that most be considered by engineers during the planning phase it the ability of the breakdown of works to be conducted limit the allotted timeframe and ressources provided.
