I definitely agree with the posts above about the whole process of Engineering Change Orders and how beneficial they can be to a specific design of a project. They are used to track any major changes to a design based on efficiently they can improve the design or if it’s to simply fix a mistake. Another benefit I would like to add is because of its need to be tracked and documented it also serves as a reminder on what’s best for a design in the future or what can or can’t work when it comes to a design. It is basically a lesson learned on what makes the design efficient just in case there was to be a similar design for another project later on down the road. A lot of projects I’ve worked on at my job leverage very similar features when it comes to the design and we’ve saved a lot of time because of engineering change orders that have been documented in the past
