I feel that existing product and documentation should be grandfathered in, since the time and money to extend these changes could lead down a many different paths and endless changes, revisions and updates. Projects that have been started already should be assessed on a case by case basis. A risk analysis should be done to determine if these projects would ultimatly benefit or falter from these changes and their associated updates.
