In general, the quality is one of the most important part of the company and that is the main reason why jobs for quality engineers are in demand. The best example that related to quality in general is the Ford Pinto case, in which the company decided to not include fuel system modification because it cost extra $11 per car, ultimately saving $12.5 million. This ultimately led to cost them more than $50 million because of deaths and other legal issues. If the quality engineer had done their job perhaps they could have saved more money and more lives.
