In the most recent simulation, we saw a situation where marketing went off on their own and their actions directly affected the timeline/schedule of the hydrosurf project. When making a schedule and timeline as PM, such curve balls can occur at anytime. They can change the deadline for completion to be sooner than initially intended, change a specification in the project, and add additional tasks that have obviously not been taken into account. Sure projects have buffers and time allocated in case things don’t go so smoothly but since you can’t exactly complain and say no, should this human factor also be put into consideration when determining the schedule and planing the project? Should the PM down play the progress and flow of the project when talking with people notorious for jumping the line even though with management you always want to give good news(while staying factual)?
