One of my biggest motivation at work is to perform in such a way that my manager has minimal to no negative feedback. When I started off with CAD work, my manager came back with a lot of constructive criticism, which I greatly appreciated because it helped me understand what was expected of me. But each time I sent him my CAD work, I tried to anticipate what he would critique about the CAD files whether it has to do with tolerances between parts or having a back-up design, I would have prepared. Before submitting my work, I would go for a brief walk to clear my mind then once I got back to my desk, I felt a little bit more refreshed. Then I would go over all of my work again but this time, trying to view it in the eyes of my manager and I would find subtle things to improve or remove. Once I was done with reviewing and editing, then only would I send my work to my manager. As time progressed, my manager had less and less to critique and now he fully trusts my work and knows that he barely has to review my work in detail. The positive feedback is what really pushes me to become a better engineer.
