From my family’s experience, if I were to start a company it will be LLC. One of the biggest advantages for LLC it’s the tax flexibility; by being a single member, the business will be taxed as a sole proprietorship. There is also limited liability and less paperwork. My family has had an LLC business for over 20 years. We are able to create our own rules or change them. I do have to mention that one of the biggest disadvantages is the confusion of roles. Corporations have specific roles, meanwhile, LLC’s do not really; which can make it difficult at times because the roles can get mixed up, more so when it’s a family business, but I am aware that you can make LLC operating agreement. Overall, LLC gives you a lot of flexibility and member protection with the personal liability along with the tax options and that’s why I would rather start up with an LLC.
