Wanting to own a company is not like trying to land a job; yet both have that intuitive drive toward something; and agreed, in both cases you wind up with something that takes you into the future only via very different pathways. The quest for a job is for yourself – you have no supportive walls to prevent you from falling into a ditch. For ownership of a company, whereas there is no certainty of safety either, this time though the quest is for the robust objective of being there for the world; to make a difference in human life.
Just as it needs care to land a job, it just as well requires extra careful treading to construct a lasting medical device company
1st it needs expertise
2nd it requires a careful observation of the operation of existing medical device design companies to be certain that our approach will assure security as the company motions into the far future. These securities – the availability of expertise and calculated approach in ownership of the design business – must be guaranteed before ownership of the business is engaged.Given these considerations, it is my conviction that a manufacturing company operating as an LLC will fit the bill – it will provide the needed company stability and assurances.
LLC has the beautiful elements of a proprietorship and S-Corp but discards those aspects of the noted business models that will assure instability.
Specifically:
– it leaves behind the dangerous risk of having direct attacks on personal bank account and property as it
assumes limited liability;
– in the LLC type set up, the company doesn’t die with the owner;
– by virtue of its organizational set up, only the flow through tax assessment can be levied on it; no
double taxing.
– it enjoys the corporate veil although it is not corporate
– it can sell shares to raise money
– owners have full control of the company
– has the option to look for talent to help run the company as a team of managers
– will pay dividends following healthy operations of the companyI can see not better business model to own.
