Personally, I would say the best feature would be to think creatively and being able to think on your feet because you have to adjust quickly when a problem arises, so I think if a person cannot do that then it will be difficult for them to handle the stress. It is quite important to manage a lot of tasks at the same time, so if they get stressed just from that and cannot think of solutions on the spot it can cause issues. Project management is ensuring that things are set up correctly and executed perfectly, which probably never happens, so it will be on them to think ahead and plan for those problems or know of solutions swiftly. For many people it is easy to get overwhelmed and get stuck on a problem for too long, which makes it hard for the work to continue, so they need to think on their feet as soon as possible and ensure the barrier does not stay for a long period of time.

I think one of the most important features of a project manager is the ability to adapt and really understand both the situation and the team. Every project will face unexpected changes, whether it is a technical challenge, a resource limitation, or a shift in priorities. A good project manager can recognize when the original plan isn’t working and adjust the strategy without losing sight of the overall goal. Just as important, they need to understand the strengths of each team member, challenges, and motivations. A project manager is effective when they are able to adapt to the workload based on who could best handle each task, keeping morale high and the project moving forward. That kind of flexibility and awareness can make the difference between a stalled project and one that succeeds despite obstacles.

I have never worked in industry, but from my experience in academic team projects, I believe that communication is the most essential feature for a project manager to have. The project manager is the key person responsible for removing obstacles from a project. In order to do that, they must be able to communicate with their team effectively. Strong communication ensures that expectations are clear, tasks are coordinated, and issues are addressed before they escalate. Good communication from the project manager also builds trust within the team, allowing members to feel confident in voicing concerns or sharing ideas. Effective communication is important for other reasons beyond the team. It is required for the project manager to align with stakeholders. A project manager must be able to convey progress and address any misunderstandings to stakeholders to ensure the project runs smoothly. Overall, good communication acts as the foundation for other features a project manager should have, such as leadership, negotiation skills, and coaching.

When talking about the most important skill that a project manager must have, has to be communication. The reason for this is that with communication is not only allows for the needs of the higher up for continuation of the project, but if problems arise and finding ways to come up with solutions to solve for them. Without this communications the project isn't able to move forwards if there are changes to the project itself or if problems arise from the projects that causes for setbacks within the project. If there is no communications between these groups, then things are less likely to get done in the way that they would like to get done or need to get done in a certain way. It also allows for project to allow to run more smoothly and more efficiently.

In my opinion, a project manager needs to have 1 main quality: openness. The manager needs to be open to ideas, open to the team, open to change, etc. When taking on a project, there are hundreds of factors that managers need to consider. Besides completing the project itself, the most important factors are the project teams, the people. The project manager has to be open to the people in terms of listening to ideas and open in terms of allowing for changes for the betterment of the project. Projects are constantly changing. Getting ideas from individuals allows for better viewpoints that the project manager might not see initially, and being open about ideas from people could serve as a way to improve the efficiency of the overall project, especially in the planning stages. Although not everything should be accepted, as long as the manager is open to at least listening to ideas and then using his/her judgement to choose if it can be applied or not, it will allow for a more successful and efficient project. In addition to this, being open to change is also important since tasks, teams, and priorities can change at any given moment. Being a more open project manager can allow for ultimately a better team morale, communication, and greater efficiency in the project.

I think that the most important feature for a project manager is definitely effective communication. A manager acts as the central point of contact between the team and clients, so being able to clearly and concisely convey goals and responsibilities has to be the number one priority. I have yet to work in industry, but from my experience in projects i have been apart of, they usually run into issues not because of lack of skill or resources, but because expectations in roles weren't communicated clearly. Strong communication helps resolve conflicts sometimes before they even start and keeps everyone informed in a transparent way. I have never held a manager position in a project before, but friends of mine have often mentioned to me that finding a balance between communication with the team and their own decision making tends to slow progress, but i think its better to hear everyone's opinion rather than not.
