Marketing to me is being able to present to consumers a product in a manner that would make them remember the product and maybe even make them want to buy it. Marketing oversees how to market a product such that it will sell. They do some level of advertising to popularize their products. The more people that are thinking or noticing your product, the more likely they would be to buy it. Marketing involves having a large reach out to target consumers through advertisements and other strategies. Whether it is through a billboard, a phone call, or a television commercial, marketing plays an important role in selling a product or service.
I totally disagree with manipulating customers to influence on their purchases. Marketing is delivering the products or services to the customer. It should be by honest way to get customer loyalty, lying to the customers doesn't make them loyal to the brand or to the company. Marketing must include clients demands and the right way to let them know about the product or service
The practice of advertising, distributing, and selling your goods to a consumer is known as marketing. It requires a competent communicator to persuade consumers to choose your products over those of competitors. I believe that influencing customers to buy what is being promoted is a smart approach for firms selling non-health-related items. Instead than trying to deceive consumers while selling medical equipment or medications, sales professionals should be able to successfully and accurately describe the advantages your technology or product offers that will result in a higher quality of life for patients than others. This will assist them in gaining client confidence.
Marketing to me is about the experience of knowing your customer. It is the ability to understand and identify a need, fill the void, and relate it to the potential customer in a way that influence them to purchase your product. Marketing is not an easy task, it is building a communication through verbal and non-verbal skills.
Prof. Simon has made it simple; he seems to define
i) Marketing: --- as being able to have the customer believe that what you - the marketing agent - are
offering is what they truly needii) Sales: ---- as being able to have someone change their mind into buying what is being sold
But then comes a study by Blair Kidwell et al in "Emotional Intelligence in Market Exchanges" which appears to lay emphasis on the ability to Manipulate the customer into buying whatever is being marketed.
Personally, I tend to think that Marketing is hinged more on communication skills, respect for the customer, being truthful to them than on being smarter than the customer who could then be more easily manipulated.
I love the professor's simplicity; but hey, I am not disapproving author Blair Kidwell et al. What is your take on this? Please educate me.
