It is important for any team member, especially the project manager, to be flexible. This means to consider other people's opinions as important, and not to be harsh when things do not go their way. However, there should be some facets that the project manager should not be flexible on. The values of the company, such as quality standards, honesty, and other foundational ethics. However, one might argue that an inflexible project manager will not accept failure to meet deadline or excuses. This can motivate an engineer to work hard and meet the deadline. While this may seem positive, there is always an inability to meet the deadline or unexpected road blocks. If the project manager is still inflexible, this may create an unwanted and hostile work environment. A good project manager is flexible in his understanding and overseeing of the project, and cannot make the team members feel inferior or inadequate. This is especially relevant if the team members are hard working and did all what they could. It is possible to be inflexible with team members who are not diligent, and demand proper work ethic and care.
