Scope Management is also important because of the delays that can be caused by scope creep. Scope creep is the continuous and uncontrolled growth of the project after the project has already been initiated. As a project manager, it is important to watch out for this because it can cause delays to your project. It is the project manager’s job to ensure that the team members are working on things that are within the scope of the project. This does not mean that the scope of the project cannot be widened during the life of a project. The DDP is a living document, and it can be updated as needed. It is important to note however that changing the scope of the project will mean that the timeline will need to be updated and the end date of the project may be extended, which is not always an option for upper management.
