I believe that there is a correlation between wanting to quit because of lack of praise and you wanting to work because of exciting challenges. The correlation exist in that a worker is motivated to take on and accept harder work challenges because it gives them exposure to new ideas and people and allows them to make a mark in another field in which they have not done before. If a worker is working really hard by challenging themselves then they expect some praise for reaching out and trying new challenging work. If they do not receive any praise and instead just work really hard for no recognition then it takes away from their accomplishments. I think people work really hard for recognition from others so they can get things such as promotions, raises, proving worth over others and to be a sense of accomplishment. Without receiving any of these a person will become demotivated and not want to challenge themselves anymore. I have quit jobs in the past mainly because I believed I was not getting paid enough and that I should be earning more for my hard work. Also, working with demotivated and boring coworkers has pushed my decision to leave as well.
