Once the problem is identified by someone and it requires a change.The scope of the issue and its possible impact are estimated before generating an engineering change request (ECR) to examine the feasibility of the change that might include identification of parts, components,resources, estimation of the costs and change in documentation to implement the change.Once an ECR is reviewed by the stakeholders and is modified.An engineering change order (ECO) is generated, listing all the items, documentation, CAD files, standard operating procedures (SOPs) to bring about the change. Once it is accepted by the stakeholders, notification is sent to the team for the change in the process. There are several benefits of implementing ECO process such as consistent identification of the bottlenecks to improve the process, facilitates better collaboration with the stakeholders, improves the supply chain process, supports better communication among the team.
