I fully believe that a project manager’s level of motivation affects the team’s productivity and motivation level. If the project manager is very passionate about the project then it will rub onto the team and make them work harder. If the PM is disconnected from the project then the team will do the minimum to get on by because they see that whatever they submit or complete it won’t matter much to the PM. Some ways that a PM can motivate the team members are that the PM frequent engages with the team to see what’s up. Is there something they don’t like or having issues with? Another way is to show that the PM has their back, encourage them and say that whatever happens they will be right there with them every step of the process. Another way would be to praise them for their hard work and give them some kind of reward or recognition along the process. The PM has got to keep the team going throughout the whole project.
