Something I found interesting this week was how much emphasis was placed on the initiation phase of a project. I honestly would have assumed that the most important part was getting started with the actual work. However, the slides explain that companies sometimes overlook or even skip initiation, even though this is where you figure out the business need, objectives, complexity, and stakeholders.
This made sense to me because if you do not fully understand the problem in the beginning, you could end up spending a lot of time working on something that does not actually solve the right problem. I also liked the idea of doing “due diligence” before moving forward. Have you ever worked on a project where the team started too quickly without figuring everything out first? If so, did it cause problems later?
