Picking the proper team for a project is critical to the success of that project. It is important that each member of the team will be able to contribute to the team in an equally valuable manner, and is able to work well with each member. If each member is not doing an equal amount of work then the other members will feel as though they are being taken advantage of, increasing stress levels which can lead to decreased productivity and fracturing of the team. I have some personal experience of though through my capstone project. Two members of the four-person team decided that because they didn’t have what they believed to be the right background knowledge, that they were not going to do much of the work. This led to the remaining two members of the team having to shoulder all the work. This was a complicated project involving programming, CAD, and electronic work, and at the end, I was left with a bitter taste in my mouth due to the extra work that I had been forced to complete, which meant that we could not deliver a finished product that I felt was the best reflection of the team. With a team that had been better put together not only would the final product have been better, but the process in which that final product was realized would also have been much smoother.
Here, the project management team is incorporated with the group of people or employees and even other individuals or shareholders who can or cannot be directly engaged in the project but carry out certain types of tasks related to the project. To my knowledge, the project management team members can be from different departments who have expertise subject matter, and knowledge to assist in the execution of the project. Usually, the project management team might differ depending on the scale and complexity of the project they are carrying out. In order to include a person in a project management team, the person has certain characteristics such as documentation of the processes, the performance of the tasks to finish the given deliverables or events, have to contribute to the whole project goals in a certain way or other, need to work with clients to discover and reach the project goals, and also have to supply skills and knowledge
