Negotiations always involve people, so it stands to reason that it is necessary to have a good social skills and strong emotional intelligence when negotiating. When you have emotional intelligence, you are able to define and respond to other people’s emotional states.

So, Do you think emotional intelligence impacts success in negotiations? share your thoughts

Emotional intelligence is highly important in negotiations. I believe this is one of the few things that is difficult to teach as emotional intelligence can vary greatly person to person and is almost a subjective idea depending on who you ask. In negotiations, you don't want to be swayed by feeling without having any logic to back up your decision. I think normal human nature is to be very impulsive when it comes to negotiating and jumping at the first offer made. I also think its human nature to not want to negotiate at all with fear of coming off as confrontational or fear of losing the deal from the start in which the person or business you are negotiating with will pull back the initial offer.
