In order for a team to be motivated, the PM should consider new ideas and challenging ways on the current project. And yes I believe that the PM level of motivation directly affects the team’s productivity as the PM is responsible for delivering the communications to the team. I believe, the PM shouldn’t have a mindset of a manager, and more of a leader that is helping the team accomplish a goal. Another opportunity for a PM to motivate a team is to have a lunch outing after successfully finishing a project on time. Many times, employees are looking forward to a treat after completing a task on time. All in all, if the PM is highly motivated, then the team will follow the same motivation in completing a project.

To build off what you said, the venture supervisor can be a surprising huge motivator. To know that someone believes in what you can do so much to put forth a lump sum to create a product greatly validates your own abilities as an engineer even further and pushes you to perform at a high level. Those high expectations eventually become more of a blessing than a curse, so I agree, the venture supervisor can have a huge impact on the motivation of the group.

To motivate my team members, I would remind the team about the goal of the project and the reward that can be redeemed from the completion of the project. The perseverance and the hard work of the leader spreads and I believe that if the team members see how their manager acts, they can embody their leader and be as productive and successful.

I do believe that a managers motivation can directly feed into the project teams motivation. If the leader of the project is not passionate or motivated about a project it is tough to believe the team would be. Simple compliments and recognition can go a long way in a project team. Not saying compliment every single little thing but complementing them on the tasks you know are a bit more strenuous or cumbersome to complete. I know on my team, our project manager treats out to lunch every now and then after a big milestone has been completed and ensures proper recognition is communicated out to the higher executives when asked. Also a project manager is more involved it helps with the motivation factor of the team overall. It builds a personal connection that can go a long way to ensuring your project team is willing to go the extra mile.

I also agree the motivation the project manager has, can be effected into the other members. And I think its important for the project manager to know that the outcome of the project should be constantly made aware to the other member in the form of encouragement and direction.

Motivation for a project manger is the key for success also Communication is another important key for a project manager. Project managers must communicate their visions clearly and project a project’s scope in a way that everyone can understand. They must also be able to provide regular constructive feedback to the team.
The success of a project largely depends on the efficiency of its communication network and with project team.

Hate to beat a dead horse, but I also agree a project manager's motivation is helpful and needed in any project. I also think it's beneficial to have a good understand of why were doing what were doing. I said in the other post that I've always believed I would be doing important and impactful work. Having someone believe in you and counting on you to get the best work you can make out there, and knowing you're going to help someone is some of the most powerful motivation. Though I do see what other says about how a managers motivation may not be enough. You also want to have security and a supportive staff. If you do something wrong, I wouldn't want the PM just saying "I believe in you". I would want to know what I can do to make it better, who I can talk to, work with, etc.
I agree with what dag56 said that if he was project manager he would motivate his team through monetary incentives, public recognition, and a simple small reward system. I think all of those aspects are a great incentive to work hard.

As previously stated by my classmates, I strongly believe that a project manager’s level of motivation affects the team’s productivity and motivation level. The project manager keeps the team on top of their tasks while also providing productive criticism. When a PM talks down to their team or doesn’t make them feel like the work they are doing is meaningful, they won’t have the drive to finish. Supposing I was a project manager in a medical industry, I would try my best to make sure my team knows that the work they are doing is important and deserves their full attention. I would also give them feedback on the work they are doing and make sure that the project they are doing is a learning process as well. During my capstone project this year, my project manager (the class’ professor) let my team know ahead of time that our customer (the professor we were working for) was disappointed in the past by their capstone group. He told us to make sure we apply significant effort into the project at hand because he didn’t want our customer to be disappointed a second time. This heads up motivated my team and I intensely, and as we come to the end of our project, our customer is extremely happy with our progress.

Personally I have worked for very unmotivated project managers and it can be the most depressing thing to deal with. It does not mean anyone has to spend a lot of money or do anything to amazing. Simply recognizing when a good job has been done can help employees tremendously.

I fully believe that a project manager’s level of motivation affects the team’s productivity and motivation level. If the project manager is very passionate about the project then it will rub onto the team and make them work harder. If the PM is disconnected from the project then the team will do the minimum to get on by because they see that whatever they submit or complete it won’t matter much to the PM. Some ways that a PM can motivate the team members are that the PM frequent engages with the team to see what’s up. Is there something they don’t like or having issues with? Another way is to show that the PM has their back, encourage them and say that whatever happens they will be right there with them every step of the process. Another way would be to praise them for their hard work and give them some kind of reward or recognition along the process. The PM has got to keep the team going throughout the whole project.

Project managers have a great role in motivating the tram members. When a leader defines the purpose, vision and value , you articulate a set of principle that focus your efforts and guide you in making choices, interacting with others, and working towards meaningful objectives. Always leaders rely on Management skills, Interpersonal skills, communication skills, Engagement skill. As a manager , you play a leading role in creating an environment that encourage people to bring their energy, enthusiasm, and creativity to the workplace. There is many ways to motivate the team , people tend to be motivated by a combination of external and internal factors.
External factors are things mangers can directly control, like wages, bonuses, benefits package, title , and special privileges. External factors also include intangibles, such as an emotionally safe work environment and necessary tools and resources. But studies show that leaders can't rely solely on bonuses or benefits for motivation. They need to support their teams in deriving satisfaction and fulfillment from their work by addressing certain internal factors. these include autonomy- the ability to direct our own lives,
mastery- the ability to improve at something that matters
purpose- the ability to work in service of greater objective
when employee are able to meet their needs in these area, they tend to be motivated, productive, and happy-and able to contribute their best to your team and organization.

Some ways to motivate the team members would be to encourage open communication amongst one another. This ensures that everyone is comfortable speaking to each other. Also, the project manager's level of motivation does affect the team productivity because the PM in a sense is the company ambassador in a way. The way they behave and conduct themselves influences how the team behaves and interacts.

I think that the PM's level of motivation definitely affects the productivity and motivation of a team. If a manager is not motivating or looks like they don't care about the effort that their team puts in then they won't put forward their best effort. If the manager isn't pushing for quality work then I would feel like my work doesn't matter. If I was a PM I would try and by empathetic and learn from my team what motivates them. I would use positive reinforcement and rewards for when the team as a whole accomplishes something.

As a Project Manager in a medical device industry I would learn to identify what are the different ways to that motivates an individual. Try to reward and provide recognition to motivate the team members on tasks that are tough to achieve but not too tough as well and would make sure that it is done consistently. Often the things that motivate the employees are relatively easy and cost the least, this can be taking the employee out for a lunch. Have the employee develop marketable skills by allowing them to attend seminars which will have them to most likely stay at the organization. Be polite and kind and appreciate the good work they do by thanking them, which will be a good motivator. The project manager's level of motivation affect the team’s productivity and motivation level because depending on how motivated the PM is to do the above mentioned things the team will be motivated at most of the phases of the project.

I think that the main way that a project manager can motivate their team is by being passionate about the project they are working on. I think that this can be achieved by only managing projects that one is truly excited about. By leading a project that one is excited and passionate about you can one find individuals to work on your team that share this excitement, and two motivate your team to work hard on a project. Moreover, I know that realistically there will not always be projects that one truly will enjoy working on. This is where the financial motivators come in. Knowing that one will be getting paid, and maybe even get bonuses for doing a good job on a project should also serve as motivators.
