moniquet07 replied to the topic Unexpected Time Delays – miniSim in the forum Project Management Process and Medical Device Development 7 years, 6 months ago
I don’t believe that shortening the time span is worth increasing risk. I understand that in some cases the time span must be decreased for emergency reasons, but at the same time, if the project fails, then the project will be prolonged all over again. The team will have to compensate for their rushed and insufficient work which would overall…[Read more]

moniquet07 replied to the topic Medical Devices in the forum Project Management Process and Medical Device Development 7 years, 6 months ago
When executing a project, it is important to plan for set backs and failures. This is why the execution phase should be planned out thoroughly to give the group an allotted time to repair errors and compensate for setbacks. The best way to handle situations like these is remain completely calm but remember to work diligently.

As stated in the lecture, the steps to the closing phase are as followed:
1. close out contracts
2. Pay whomever needs to be paid
3. Give final performance reports
4. Log what you learn
5. Hand off product
The closing phase is to ensure everything is set in stone and no lose strings are left untied. -
moniquet07 replied to the topic Communication and Responsiveness in the forum Project Management Process and Medical Device Development 7 years, 7 months ago
Communication is the most important part of working in a team. Everyone has their own life and own responsibilities but they must also understand that their team needs their commitment as well. When one of your team members is having trouble communicating, the first thing you must do is reach out separately to find out what is going on and how to…[Read more]

moniquet07 replied to the topic Meeting Deadlines with Research in the forum Project Management Process and Medical Device Development 7 years, 7 months ago
I believe the best way to meet deadlines for the specific simulation would be to compensate for potential error. The team should take extra time with the planning phase and research to ensure problems like leaking or clumping don’t occur. I truly believe that if the team researched the carrier and the CMC they could pick out the certain factors…[Read more]

moniquet07 replied to the topic Missing a Milestone Experience in the forum Project Management Process and Medical Device Development 7 years, 7 months ago
For my senior capstone project, we are required to follow a schedule we made with Microsoft Project 2016. There have been a few times this semester we’ve missed milestones because of 3D printing delays or part deliveries. Our project is to construct a chair that one of the professors could use to successfully carry out their research. The two main…[Read more]

moniquet07 replied to the topic Mapping- Gantt Chart in the forum Project Management Process and Medical Device Development 7 years, 7 months ago
We are currently using Gantt Charts in Capstone and it has shown to be very helpful. Gantt charts show the critical path of the project from start to finish. This helps the group keep track of key deadlines for important milestones. In capstone we use Microsoft Project which makes it really easy to modify the project schedule when needed. I refer…[Read more]

moniquet07 replied to the topic task Scheduling :factors in the forum Project Management Process and Medical Device Development 7 years, 7 months ago
I believe there are six steps to project/task scheduling.
1. Plan Schedule Management – Define policies, procedures, and documentation
2. Define Activities – Work Breakdown
3. Sequence Activities – sequence of work
4. Estimate Activity Resources – resources such as labor, tools, facilities, fixed cost items
5. Estimate Activity Duration -…[Read more] -

I believe that the planning phase of the project and critical and one of the most important steps in implementing a project. Project planning gives a concrete foundation and security. Poor project planning shows that you’re intending to fail and the project is not at the top of your priority list. During this phase, the team takes into account…[Read more]

moniquet07 replied to the topic Design Review Meeting Culture in the forum Project Management Process and Medical Device Development 7 years, 7 months ago
I haven’t experienced a design review in industry, but as previously stated in another forum, we did design reviews for Capstone. My experience was very similar to Talha; each group had their documents by a group of their peers and then any errors or unclear information was brought up during the design review. There was a moderator to keep the…[Read more]

moniquet07 replied to the topic Design Review Meeting in the forum Project Management Process and Medical Device Development 7 years, 7 months ago
This semester in Capstone we did a design review of each of our projects. We took a week to go over each group’s design document then went group by group to point out any errors or unclear information. I believed it was a very helpful because we were able to see the flaws in our designs and every comment from each student was carefully recorded…[Read more]

moniquet07 replied to the topic How to initiate project successfully in the forum Introduction to Project Management 7 years, 7 months ago
When initiating a project, I believe there a four steps:
1: Market Gap/Market Demand: Researching the purpose of the project and why it would be vital to consumers. During this research, it is important to look for any similar projects that would be considered competition but don’t entirely meet customer needs.
2. Develop Roles: within the project…[Read more] -

Reading the question, my first instinct was to say no, I don’t believe that devices/medicine not approved by the FDA should be used, regardless if they believe it works or not. But, after reading my classmates posts, I think that if the medical personal believes that the device/medicine has the potential to cure a disease and they have the…[Read more]

I think that when a company sees potential in a project they should continue to pursue it. High potential projects have the opportunity of getting funding or investments from outsider supporters. I believe the greatest skill a project manager should have is communication. Developing a product takes a team; it is not something can be done alone.
