I was surprised by how many different career paths are available within the medical device industry. Before this course, I mostly thought about engineering and research when I thought about medical device development. However, the slides mentioned careers in clinical research, regulatory affairs, marketing, quality assurance, and project management in addition to engineering and research.
This made me realize that developing a medical device is not something that can be done by one type of professional. A successful product requires people with different skills working together, especially because medical devices have to go through different stages of development and regulation. I am interested in learning more about how these different roles communicate with each other during an actual project.
