One point from the first week that stood out to me was the idea that this course is meant to prepare us to function as a team member on a commercial medical device project. The course objectives include learning about FDA classifications, design controls, medical device marketing and sales, and the major milestones involved in developing a device.

I think this is important because having technical knowledge is only one part of working in biomedical engineering. Understanding how a product moves from an idea through development and eventually toward the market can help engineers understand the bigger picture. I am especially interested in learning about design controls because I think it will show how engineering decisions are documented and managed throughout the development process.
