My motivation is the new challenges for every new task. This provides me an interest to work and drives me to work faster. Every challenge has something new to learn and implement in the process of work. Every new challenge may provide different level of difficulty or thought process and this provides new enthusiasm to finish the work and be successful at it. Every new challenge is an opportunity to learn.
My motivators are project deadlines and grades. I always try to finish all of my work ahead of time to try to give myself time before submission to make an necessary changes. Also I have anxiety when it comes to grades so I must always do as well as possible in order to stay calm.
For me, I am motivated when the work I am doing is interesting and challenging. To give an example, I have been more successful on my college projects when I got to choose what I wanted to do compared to when I was told what to do.
Acquiring new skills and knowledge motivates me to keep pushing my boundaries. I love a good challenge and always strive to learn something new. I see so many different career paths unrelated to engineering, and I just wish I could do everything. The idea that I don’t have knowledge in some areas, makes me want to dive into a subject and tackle it head on. I feel it is so rewarding to know bits and pieces of certain areas while also pushing towards perfection in another.
My motivators tend to be linked to what I am most interested. If I am invested in a project I will dedicate more time towards it happily as opposed to something I am being forced into doing. I also think monetary compensation is a huge motivator in order for me to pay for the things I want in life or have the experiences I aspire to have. If I feel I am being properly compensated for my work I will continue to contribute more as opposed to feeling taken advantage of.
My motivation to do work and work overall is firstly being in an environment which challenges me and sparks my interest. These two factors go hand in hand because if I didnt like what I am working towards I would be less interested or less motivated. By doing something I enjoy although it can be difficult or challenging, that sets the drive to complete work. Additionally, when the work is very challenging, the most satisfying component to completed the work is using the skills I have learned, creativity, and knowing the potential capabilities I have or can gain from that learning experience.
Th first 3 semesters under BME, it was difficult to really love the work since a lot of it was fundamentals and although I didnt understand they were necessary basic building skills for the rest of the BME program, I knew it was a challenge and one I had to keep pushing so then I could get into the more detailed and hands on aspects of BME.
I would say that my biggest motivation is myself and my future. I like to challenge myself to be my best and produce the best work I can. If I produce anything less, I feel as though I am cheating myself and the people around me. I use this mindset in many areas of my life, whether that be running, friendships, or work. Everything I do, I try to make sure that it is done to the best standards that I can. If I can confidently look back at a project, race, or friendship and say that I did everything I could then I can walk away feeling good about the situation. It always feels nice to have external validation or motivation, but the only consistent validation and motivation come from you. I also felt that as a leader, leading by example means more than the words you use to set an example for a team; if I came in every day and did my best, other people on my team did too.
I am also motivated by challenges and learning. While it can be daunting to take on something unfamiliar and difficult, it is invigorating making progress as well as learning along the way. A manager once piled on numerous tasks for me to complete after I was getting break from break and all of those responsibilities were tasks I have never done before or been even remotely involved in. While I was overwhelmed at first, I was able to break up each responsibility and reach out to others for assistance on the task. after receiving the proper guidance and training, I was able to complete all the tasks and delver the products to the manager by the end of the week (well before thee deadline). While it was not the ideal scenario to be put in, I am extremely thankful for that opportunity because it challenged me to learn and accomplish a number of new things in such a short amount of time. After that, I am now able to carry out many tasks independently with little supervision and able to make my own calls as well. After this experience, it has made me look forward to working on newer programs and challenging myself to learning more in a time crunch and gradually expanding my knowledge and skills over time. The rush and thrill of working towards a deadline on something unfamiliar is extremely motivating.
What motivates me changes from project to project. This may sound silly but sometimes I am motivated by spite for the project. So when I was doing research at NJIT on making drones I remember sometimes I felt so hopeless trying to make progress. However what kept me going was the thought that I can't let the drones win. I feel like this feeling of anger at especially coding assignments becomes a big motivator if I am struggling with them and begin to feel hopeless. This taps into a sense of competition except instead of competing with my groupmates I am competing with the assignment to prove that I can push through it and come out victorious.
I am always motivated by the idea of a challenge. Even now, I always challenge myself to stay busy hence why I work full time, am a full time masters student, and am conducting research and development while also exploring the potential for commercialization of a medical device I have been working on. Additionally, I have all these responsibilities because I hope to further my career and compensation packages. At my current job as a field service engineer I have the support of a great boss who recognizes and values my efforts and appreciates that I enjoy variety in my work and knows I am always up for something new or challenging. For the medical device my team and I have been working on, I always try to reflect on the broader impact our work can have in the cancer screening space to motivate others through difficult tasks, along with being supportive and communicating with them to work through problems.
I am motivated by challenges and competition. I always enjoying taking on and completing challenging tasks because I feel like I get rewarded based on how well I completed the task: I usually put in 100% effort into the projects that i'm involved in. I also enjoy healthy competition from my colleagues since it motivates me to perform better and to work harder in order to become the best possible version of myself.

My biggest motivator is ambition. When it comes to work I don't care about the money (yet) but rather that feeling of fulfillment. I want to make sure what I'm doing I'll enjoy, be happy with, and most importantly makes a difference. Some people would love to take 6 figs just to watch paint dry but I'd rather take the paycut to feel meaningful. In terms of school what's motivated me more than anything, in college at least, was the efforts of my professor's to be worthwhile and personable, professor's that even if they're difficult want you to succeed. I know students who've taken a class before and failed but opted to retake the class again with the same professor because of what they had to offer. The competitiveness and all that will come with anything you do but you need to have a drive first.
I have always been motivated by the desire to meet a deadline. Setting and reaching deadlines gives me such a sense of accomplishment. I love creating an organized schedule for completing a task and achieving my goals on time.
My biggest motivator is self-improvement. I take great satisfaction in realising that I have learnt something new and that I have picked up or improved a particular skill. Even though this is my greatest motivator, over the course of the years I have noticed that competition plays a key role as well. For instance, in competitive environments, I am more motivated to become better and learn something faster. This is not to say that I don't in less competitive ones, but there is definitely a positive correlation between the two.
